WHAT I BELIEVE ABOUT........

Image
Here's an exercise that came to me recently. I've been working on a coaching session about belief systems and how to recognize negative beliefs we hold. We want to keep and reinforce the beliefs that are nourishing and supportive of us and look at the beliefs that might be detrimental and holding you back in some way and reprogram those. Write out a few simple sentences like I have done below to each one of these: What I believe about: Aging – I believe that you are as young as you feel. That people grow old when they can’t laugh at themselves anymore and take life too seriously. You age when you get set in your ways and stop taking risks. Death -I believe that when we die we go to heaven to live with a loving Father and Jesus who died for us long ago. Men -I believe every man is happier when he has a woman or someone in his life who appreciates him. Women -I believe woman are leaders of world and the strongest species. I believe we are as strong as the Himalayas and s...

If you want change, change first.

I know many people who are stuck in their stories and they can't get out. It's their inner self talk. I will never find the Love I want, and they stop looking-I can't have a job I love that pays what I need-and stick to a job they hate. I won't be able to lose the weight-and give up trying. I can't stop smoking-and resign themselves to be slaves to nicotine for the rest of their lives. IF YOU WANT CHANGE, CHANGE FIRST We are creatures of habit. When we fail to see how our limiting beliefs and inner self talk are running the show we habitually keep on doing the same old same old. we think the same way. YOUR COMFORT ZONE CAN BECOME YOUR CAGE I want to encourage everyone reading this to think about one story similar to the examples I've given above. Try and see in your own life see where you are throwing in the towel. For me it would be exercise. I'm a super busy mom with 3 kids and a husband on shift work and a busy new full time job. I put many ...

ACCEPTANCE

Image
I've noticed my own perceptions are so different from the people around me and I consider this to be a growth opportunity for myself. I accept people for who they are and as they try to be. Sometimes it can be so frustrating when you are seeing things from a totally different lens. You just want to scream out: Why don't you get this! But you can't because they aren't in the same place as you. They have a different past. They have a different experience then you do. I'm beginning to understand that when we appreciate that we all see things from a different angle with a particular focus, we're able to honour others' perceptions as much as our own. I accept that people are jerks sometimes and I'm ok with it. I accept that not everyone is going to see things the way I do and I'm ok with it. We are all free independant thinkers. It only becomes a problem when you can't accept that. blessings, Carrie

Attitude

It seems to me that many people are always looking for what's wrong in the world as an excuse to justify their bad mood. They always seem disappointed with the present moment. Someone is always letting them down. Most people do it unconsciously but there are some that I swear do it just to prove to themselves and to others that the world is a horrifying place to live so they can justify their own failure to stay positive and focused. I refuse to live my life like that mainly because that type of energy makes me feel like "crap". While I'm here I plan to enjoy every moment I can doing what fulfills me and gives me Joy. I love spreading that type of energy around me and perhaps I can be of use to others. If you are on a mission to be as miserable as you can be than you will find what you're looking for. When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. Wayne Dyer This is the basis for Quantum Psychics. If you see the world as a...

A List of 10 Things

Image
Developing mental strategies to create the life circumstances you want is a really great idea and if you have no strategies here is one you can easily begin doing. I made this up years ago to help me get through a painful divorce. I really wanted things to go smoothy and handle things well and get through it with the least amount of emotional damage and it was important to me that I be strong for my son. I've been using it ever since. It is a very effective way to review how you want your life to look. This technique has been more helpful to me than anything else I've ever done to stay focused on what I want. I call it quite simply a list 10 things I have 10 Ways to be Deliriously Happy. I loved it so much I wrote a book to share with others. Here are some other lists I've made over the years. when I was working at an office I had 10 ways to stay positive at work. I formulate 10 new goals every New Years Eve. I had 10 Reasons to quit smoking. I have 10 things th...

Life Vision Statement

Image
History will be kind to me for I intend to write it. Winston Churchill There have been times in my life when I felt like I was drifting around aimlessly. Moving from one menial task to the next without any real purpose or meaning behind what I was doing. Have you ever felt that way? Most people I know would say Yes to having felt that way at least on occasion. I must admit shamelessly that my authentic self is energetic and enthusiastic towards life so whenever I have fallen away from my true nature in the past, I work as quickly as possible to find my way back. One of ways that I use to stay focused and on track is through a Life Vision Statement. A Life Vision Statement is created by you and includes all the personalities traits you want to strengthen, the activities and habits you want to engage in and the life situations you want to create. It doesn't matter how far away you are from achieving your ideal life circumstances, all that matters is that your clear on what you...
